Abscission

Abscission, from the series The Anatomy of Potential

ink, watercolor, graphite on toned paper

22″ x 30″

Abscission is about the experiences in our lives that we choose to no longer “nourish”. Somewhere along the line we have decided that these experiences no longer help us reach our potential. The title comes from the plant hormone called abscissic acid that cuts off nourishment to leaves in the Fall causing them to drop off the trees.
